A senior quant at Millennium Capital Management in London has left the firm to teach machine learning at WorldQuant University.

Hammad Khan, a managing director and quant portfolio manager at Millennium, departed earlier this month, according to regulatory filings. He’s now a faculty member at World Quant University, the education arm of the hedge fund with the same name, where he teaches machine learning and ‘alpha’ design.

WorldQuant University has a number of senior hedge fund professionals teaching there including Anca Dimitriu, who also previously worked at Millennium in a business development role.

Khan joined Millennium in January 2013, from high frequency trading firm Sun Trading, where he was a quant trader. Before this, he spent nearly three years at Marshall Wace as a quant portfolio manager. Khan kicked off his finance career at Lehman Brothers, where he was a senior associate until its collapse in September 2008.

Khan is the third departure from Millennium so far this month. Johan Levavasseur, the former SAC Capital Advisors portfolio manager who joined in October 2013, has departed – possibly for the ever-popular Point72 Asset Management.

Meanwhile, Ai Chia Foo, a portfolio manager who only joined Millennium in June 2015, has since moved on to Nektar Asset Management (part of Brummer & Partners) where she’s a partner.
